GIRLS & WOMEN IN MOTION ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE ARE ONE OF THE 2021 MLSE COMMUNITY ACTION GRANT RECIPIENTS!
After a difficult 2020 and most of 2021, Girls & Women in Motion is excited to announce that our Girl’s Only Soccer program will be back in 2022, bigger and better than ever!
Thanks to the support of the MLSE Foundation’s Community Action Grant’s, Girls & Women in Motion (GWIM) will be running a 2-year pilot program called Built to Play: Girl’s Only Soccer Program. The program will take place in 4 different sites across the GTA, with 2 in Scarborough, 1 in North York/East York (TBD) and 1 in the Durham Region. More to come on this.
The 2-year pilot will run in 4 phases per year, which include:

1) Coaching Recruitment and Training: GWIM will recruit 20 women coaches, aged 18-30, from within each community and program site (5 per site). Each coach will receive their NCCP training, First-Aid training, and more.
2) Program Planning: GWIM will work with our group of coaches to develop and plan a 8-10 week developmental soccer program plan for girls, ages 6-10. We will work with each team of coaches from each location to ensure the program is age-appropriate and filled with variations and fun!
3) Program Delivery: GWIM and the team of coaches will deliver the 8-10 week program during the Summer of 2022 for up to 120 girl participants in the four different sites. The program will include guest facilitators and end with a group tournament, bringing all sites together at the end of the summer.
4) Evaluation: GWIM will work with the MLSE Foundation’s evaluation team, as well as potential other partners, to lead an evaluation of the program to support any adjustments and changes needed for Year 2.
GWIM is committed to providing affordable, accessible and inclusive movement-based programs for girls and women, by girls and women. In continue to align with our mission, vision and values, this program will be fully subsidized with no cost to participation.
GWIM is also excited to be working with the following partners as part of the program:
